Σε ηλικία 54 ετών έφυγε από τη ζωή η πρωτοπόρος του ανεξάρτητου κινηματογράφου και διάσημων αμερικανικών σειρών, έχοντας υπογράψει μεταξύ άλλων επεισόδια του «Mad Men» και του πρόσφατου «Little Fires Everywhere» με την Ρις Γουίδερσπουν
H Λιν Σέλτον που «έφυγε» από αιματολογική διαταραχή στις 16 Μαΐου σοκάροντας το ανεξάρτητο και mainstream Χόλιγουντ, του οποίου αποτελούσε αγαπημένο και φωτισμένο κομμάτι, έγινε πρώτη φορά γνωστή με το «Humpday» (2009), κωμωδία που έκανε θραύση με ήρωες δύο φίλους που αποφασίζουν να γυρίσουν γκέι πορνό (οι Μαρκ Ντουπλάς και Τζόσουα Λέοναρντ ανέλαβαν τους πρώτους ρόλους).
Δημιουργός της ανεξάρτητης αμερικανικής παραγωγής και ακούραστη στυλοβάτης του, η σκηνοθέτης είδε την ταινία της να αποκτά και γαλλικό ριμέικ με πρωταγωνιστές τους Ιβάν Ατάλ και Φρανσουά Κλουζέ.

Η ίδια συνέχισε κινηματογραφικά με τις κομεντί «Your Sister’s Sister» (το 2011 με τους Μαρκ Ντουπλάς, Έμιλι Μπλαντ) και το «Laggies» (το 2014 με τους Κίρα Νάιτλι, Σαμ Ρόκγουελ και Κλόε Γκρέις Μόρετζ), ενώ υπέγραψε διάσημα σίριαλ όπως τα Mad Men, The Mindy Project, Glow, Fresh Off The Boat και Little Fires Everywhere με πρωταγωνίστριες τις Ρις Γουίδερσπουν και Κέρι Γουάσινγκτον.
Το φλερτ με το μεγάλο και λαμπερό Χόλιγουντ δεν δελέασε την Λιν Σέλντον όσο κι αν ο πειρασμός ήταν μεγάλος: η Marvel της έκανε πρόταση για να σκηνοθετήσει το «Black Widow», αλλά εκείνη είπε όχι, επιμένοντας στο δικό της όραμα.
